Parker and Carson in front of the Potomac.
We toured the entire estate in the 100 degree plus weather! There was so much to see, the mansion, outbuildings, servants' hall(this is where guest servants stayed), kitchen, slave quarters, stables, Washington's tomb, the grounds and gardens.
The kids enjoyed the hands on demostrations.
Washington's 16 sided treading barn. It has been reconstructed to exactly replicate the orginal.
After spending several hours at Mount Vernon, we thought we were wrapping it all up when we entered into what we thought was a gift shop, but ended up being a museum and education center, another half day of viewing. The only problem was that we only had 45 minutes till closing! We sort of ran through it, I was so disappointed that we weren't able to enjoy it more. It was really great!

Looks like ya'll had so much fun! Russ and I would LOVE to go to Washington D.C. I haven't been since I was in elementary school. I know I could appreciate it all so much more now. Hope you don't mind me checking in on you through Roan's blog. :)
