Jared's 6th Birthday

A couple of weeks ago we had a few families over to help us celebrate Jared's birthday. We also had his great-grandparents and great-aunt over. They are the ones who took care of him for most of his little life. He loves them so much! Jared was so excited to have them here! We enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers from the grill. Even with just a few families, we had a house full of children, it was completely chaotic, but so much fun for Jared!

1st Day of School!

Today was a good day! It started with a wake-up call of 5:00 for a run with the older boys. We met friends at the track and had a great run! Afterwards, we drove through Connie's for chicken and gravy biscuits and Shipley's for donuts! No, I did not eat both!! Okay maybe I popped a few donut holes on the way home! I wish that everyday would be like the first day! Everyone bright eyed and bushy tailed, eager to start and ready to learn! Avery was the most excited of all, her first day of Kindergarten! She woke up, picked the perfect dress, and wanted me to fix her hair and put in a bow! She was so cute, grinning from ear to ear!

Take a peek at our closet! Everything is so neat and organized! I love it!
Just wonder how long it will last?!
I am excited to be starting our 6th year of homeschooling, thankful that I have this opportunity with my precious babies and blessed to have met so many wonderful friends through our journey!

Back to School Fun!

After a two month sabbatical, I'm back, or at least I hope that I am! I know it has been way too long since my last post and so much has happened this summer! I have been dreading posting because I was overwhelmed with how behind I have gotten, But........ I have decided to just start with the here and now, if I get to it I will catch up on some of the summer, but if not that's okay, too! Let me just say that the summer was great, but entirely too short!
We began our back to school festivities on Friday with a scavenger hunt. This has become our tradition at the start of each year. The kids love it and get so excited running through the house searching for the clues and of course their treasure at the end! In the past, the kids have gotten new backpacks, school/art supplies, and this year it was Barnes and Noble gift cards. As soon as they finished the hunt, we all loaded up in the van and headed to choose their books. I enjoyed a yummy coffee from Starbucks while they looked for the perfect book! Afterwards, we went to Chick-fil-A for lunch and ice cream!
